"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching." - Hebrews 10:24-25
The way God communicates with me is through my writing. It's as if I get this impulse to write something, and it just flows from me. And today, what I find myself drawn to write about is how the key to creating real superheroes in America and the world lies in intentional spiritual communities.
I'm not talking about just being on an email list or attending church out of routine. I'm talking about deep, truth-based spiritual communities where people genuinely engage with the most essential questions in life. Questions like, why are we here? What is the nature of our existence? How do our spiritual gifts complement each other, and how can we work together to build a better world?
I've spent time in secular “impact communities”, and I get the appeal. People want to be inclusive of a wide range of belief systems. But the problem is what ultimately ends up uniting people in these circles as the remaining common thread is bowing down to the dictates of the United Nations or ESG.
I believe the power generated when people are entirely aligned on the most critical questions in life can have so much more real-world impact than secular impact communities.
Spiritual communities aren't just a cure for loneliness (as I talk about Communities Built On Spiritual Purpose May Be The Antidote To Loneliness); they're a remedy for everything.
Even if you increasingly have a direct relationship with God, like I do, having others who experience God in their unique ways and can relate to your mission is incredibly inspiring. It helps unblock paths you never thought possible. You can't do it alone, and you can't do it without others who serve God.
"There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work." - 1 Corinthians 12:4-6
The sad thing is, many people don't know that spiritual communities without trauma exist. A lot of people have had negative experiences with religion.
But I believe it doesn't have to be that way.
I want to play a significant role in helping people rediscover themselves, recommit to the highest purposes, and unleash their inner superheroes. Because I know we have the power within us, and it's about time we used it.
