The more I meet people of faith, the more I realize that everyone has their own special way they connect with God. For me, it's through music. Whether it's Christian rap, Afrobeats, or feel good electronic music, it's like a spiritual connection that feels more powerful than anything else. I feel love, openness, and an overwhelming desire to serve.
Others hear words from God, or see messages, or are moved by feelings. I am a feeler. When I get a feeling that aligns with His word, I've never regretted following it. It makes me think of Psalm 139:14: "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." We each have a unique relationship with God, crafted by Him, and that's a beautiful thing.
We all have different roles to play in building His kingdom. Whether it's making music, counseling, pursuing truth, being a good parent, or helping the homeless, we all have a purpose. It's like what it says in Ephesians 2:10: "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." We were all put on this earth for a reason, and it's amazing how much easier it is to figure out that reason when we're in a community.
Spiritual community helps us recognize our unique connection with God and our specific role in His plan. It's a coming together of different people, all guided by the same love, all following the same call, but in our individual ways.
The variety of ways we relate to God isn't something that divides us; it unites us. It's a celebration of the creativity of our Creator, who made us all different but brought us all together for a shared purpose. And in community, we find encouragement, understanding, and the inspiration to fulfill our calling. It's a truly beautiful thing, and I feel blessed to be a part of it.
