It's alarmingly easy these days to slip into a sedentary lifestyle, letting technology cater to our every whim. Robots can deliver meals to your doorstep, meals that may not be the healthiest for you but satisfy your basic cravings. We are moving toward a future where we could implant chips into our brains, allowing us to override our body's natural systems. It’s like attempting to trick ourselves into believing everything is fine when, in fact, our lives might be spiraling out of control.
We've even created ways to digitally mask our true selves. Deep fake technology can create an avatar so real, so similar to us, that we can hide behind it, evading our own reflection in the mirror. This ability to fabricate reality extends to our relationships as well. It is now feasible to have a false relationship with a real person or a genuine relationship with a non-human entity.
In these peculiar and somewhat dystopian times, I am convinced that the need for Christly values has never been more urgent. We must strive to build authentic communities, establish meaningful relationships, and foster a genuine connection with God. The value of physical labor, of working with our hands and feeling the earth beneath them, has been overlooked in the digital age.
It's crucial to hone our discernment skills, to differentiate between what is real and what is a carefully crafted illusion. We must be able to reject falsehoods, even if they are more palatable than harsh truths. We should be mindful of what we consume, be it food, information, or beliefs, and the impact they have on us.
Above all, it’s time to re-engage with a Christly community, a community that values truth, authenticity, and shared purpose.
