Change. Evolution. Growth. These concepts have been integral to my life journey and my understanding of myself and the world around me. It's fascinating how we grow and evolve over time, both personally and professionally. I mean, I know change from the inside out, and it's nothing but a constant companion.
I've witnessed firsthand how small changes can be the catalyst for transformation. Sometimes it's as simple as switching to a different app, like Notion, which totally changed my life one year. Other times it's as profound as redefining my own identity, from a software engineer to something like a marketer or virtuous propagandist.
Music has been a metaphor for my evolution. I went from dismissing Christian rap to loving it. I went from not knowing anything about Afrobeats to playing it nonstop. These changes are a reflection of how our tastes and interests shift and expand as we expose ourselves to new experiences and perspectives.
My evolving love for places like New York, Chicago, Florida, Atlanta, parts of Africa, and beyond symbolizes my passion for exploring new horizons. It's a testament to my excitement about contributing to great projects in hyper-local areas, which is where real impact can be made.
One of the most profound shifts in my life was moving from a staunch, prideful atheist to getting in touch with the Holy Spirit. My spiritual awakening has allowed me to connect with something greater and has shaped my new approach to life.
Even in the way I consume food and engage in physical exercise, I see evolution. I've transitioned from a meat-heavy diet to eating mostly vegetables, and I've discovered that I don't need a gym filled with free weights to maintain my fitness; I can work out wherever I am in the world.
My relationships have evolved too, with certain friends replaced by new connections. But this is all a part of life's natural flow, and it's a change I embrace.
What's crucial in all of this is the mental approach to evolution. If you don't fall into a negative mindset because of the changes happening in your life, you can find joy and excitement in the new paths opening before you.
I believe we should all identify with the spirit of evolution. It may indeed be the most durable aspect of our growth as individuals. Life is always changing, and it's hard to know what will stay constant. But one thing I've learned is that identifying with the spirit of evolution never seems to go wrong.
In the end, it's about embracing who you are now and recognizing that this is not a fixed state but a continuous journey. You are an evolving being, and there's real beauty in that truth.
